COTTON DYEING WITH REACTIVE DYE WITHOUT SALT THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF SOYBEAN OIL

Knowing the need of the textile industry to meet their demands with a lower index of environmental impacts, it is understood the importance of research on alternative methods of dyeing cotton without using salt. Thus, the study sought to analyze the viability of dyeing cotton with reactive dye using the dye emulsion dyeing method in soybean oil. The properties of the dyed material were studied using friction, light and wash fastness tests. In addition, analyzes of isotherms (Langmuir and Freundlich) and dyeing kinetics were performed in a reflectance spectrophotometer, with the adoption of conventional dyeing as the standard. For residual analysis of dye in the process, aliquots were collected in the initial and final stages of dyeing, as well as each wash, and the solutions were evaluated by means of an absorbance spectrophotometer. The wavelength found was 542 nanometers. The results showed acceptable values of solidity and color capacity of the samples, despite also highlighting the advantage over conventional dyeing, which is still the most effective, having presented pseudo-second order kinetics, indicating that the control of the speed mechanism is the chemical adsorption, in addition to an isotherm suitable to the Langmuir model, that is, fiber and dye interact strongly. In sequence, the results were positive for the substrate dyed with oil, revealing that the method has a future and promotes the continuity of studies about it.
