Abstract

This article aims to contribute with a reflection on the National Environmental Education Policy after 22 years of its institutionalization and how the lack of understanding on the part of decision makers of what the Law 9,795 tutelage has directly impacted on the implementation of the National Solid Waste Policy. To this end, the four editions of the BNCC, several speeches by experts in conferences, forums, lives, and articles were analyzed, in addition to the author's experience in training teachers in Environmental Education. The results of scientific research that surveyed the state of the art of Environmental Education in the State of Rio Grande do Sul (2018) and the training of multiplier-teacher in Environmental Education in Crateús/CE (2017) were also considered. The conclusion that has been reached is that Brazil continues to marking pace in a crucial issue for the behavioral maturity of its population, especially when it is observed that the development of "critical thinking" referred to in the EE principles is even more distant when observing the progressive loss of space for Environmental Education at BNCC, the systematic non-compliance with current legislation and the meager results of selective collection in Brazil.
