USE OF ORGANIC WASTE THROUGH COMPOSTING IN THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF DOM BOSCO (UCDB) - CAMPUS CAMPO GRANDE
Keywords:
Aerated composting. Solid waste. Fertilizer.Abstract
The concern with environmental problems is a reflection related to the amount of waste generated by a population. The work sought to identify, characterize, quantify and implement the recycling of organic waste generated at the Catholic University Dom Bosco (UCDB), in Campo Grande / MS, because the organic load generated daily by this educational establishment was high. The methodology used in the development of the work was based on a bibliographic survey on composting, waste management techniques and complementary subjects, where gravimetric analysis was applied in order to quantify the waste. It was observed that an average of 126 kg / day of organic waste was produced and based on this data, a composter was designed and installed to transform organic matter into natural fertilizer using the aerated composting method.
