Abstract

The textile and clothing sectors in Brazil occupy one of the highest positions on the world stage, as they have one of the largest integrated production chains. This position, however, has its consequences - the textile and clothing production chain generates a large amount of solid waste. With the growing public interest in reducing the environmental impacts of human activities, sustainability has been increasingly placed on the agenda and industries are looking for measures to minimize or eliminate the waste generated, one of these alternatives is the implementation of the Cleaner Production tool. Based on this, the present study aimed to explain and compare the use of P + L practices in four textile industries, with processing sector, in the State of Santa Catarina. Among the results explained, there is a difference of opinion regarding the reuse of water in the pre-bleaching process, the destination of the waste generated and the possibility of modifying the product or process to avoid the generation of waste. However, there is unanimous concern with the protection of the environment, as well as agreeing that this attitude is related to its image, in addition, they are supported by regulatory standards and environmental laws.
